Women's Soccer Hosts Penn Saturday In Regular-Season Finale
November 07, 2008 | Women's Soccer
PRINCETON -- The program's sixth Ivy League title and perhaps a berth in the NCAA tournament will be on the line Saturday when the Princeton women's soccer team hosts Penn at Roberts Stadium.
Princeton (11-2-2, 4-1-1 Ivy) vs. Penn (8-5-3, 2-2-2)
Sat., Nov. 8 at Princeton's Roberts Stadium, 4 p.m.
Coaches: Princeton - Julie Shackford (14th season/William & Mary '88);
Penn - Darren Ambrose (Ninth season/USC-Spartanburg '93)
All-Time Series: Princeton leads 15-6-1
What's at stake: Entering the weekend, Princeton, Columbia and Harvard are tied atop the Ivy League, and Harvard and Columbia will play Saturday morning. Regardless of the outcome of that game, Princeton will be able to claim its sixth Ivy title with a win over Penn. Princeton would share the title with the Harvard-Columbia winner, and in the event of a tie in that game, the Tigers would be outright champions.
Last time vs. Penn: The Tigers met Penn in the season's penultimate game a year ago, still very much in the hunt for the Ivy crown. Princeton took the game to overtime at Penn's Rhodes Field, but the Quakers' Kristin Kaiser, coincidentally a sister of Princeton hockey player Kevin Kaiser, scored in overtime to dash the Tigers' hopes.
Senior Day: Princeton will honor its four women's soccer seniors Saturday, including Taylor Numann, Sarah Peteraf, Lisa Chinn and Jen Om.
