Tiger Women's Tennis Wins On The Road At Maryland, 4-3
February 10, 2008 | Women's Tennis
The Princeton women's tennis team defeated Maryland for the second straight year Sunday, getting three impressive straight-set singles wins on the way to a 4-3 victory over the Terrapins at the Tennis Center in College Park.
The Tigers (4-1), ranked No. 71 in the nation, were strong in the bottom part of the singles lineup thanks to freshmen Rebecca Parks and Taylor Marable. Parks defeated Lisa Miller at No. 5 singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-3, while Marable lost just four games in a straight-set win over Oksana Krutiyenko at No. 6. Both players were making their spring debut for the Tigers.
At No. 2 singles, Ivana King helped Princeton clinch the match with an impressive 6-3, 6-0 victory over Karin Lundmark.
The Tigers won the doubles point when Marable and Melissa Saiontz held off Maryland's Maagie MacKeever and Julia Huschke 8-6 at the No. 2 spot.
Princeton hosts De Paul and Buffalo at the Jadwin Gym courts next weekend.
