Fencers to Compete in IFA Meet at Columbia Sunday
February 21, 2008 | Men's Fencing, Women's Fencing
PRINCETON -- Princeton will take part in the annual Intercollegiate Fencing Association meet Sunday at Columbia's Dodge Fitness Center. The meet is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. and run until about 7 p.m.
Last season, the Tigers finished fourth in the combined six-weapon, men's/women's standings. Nine Tiger women and 12 men competed with two, John-Paul Mitchell '07 and current junior Jasjit Bhinder, winning their flights.
Princeton's fencers will be divided into three flights, A, B and C, to compete against other fencers in their weapon in that flight. The team standings will be determined by total number of victories with touch differential as the tiebreaker.
The IFA has 12 member schools including Brandeis, Brown, Boston College, Columbia, Cornell (women only), Harvard, MIT, NYU, Penn, Princeton, Vassar and Yale. The IFA is the last meet before the NCAA Mid-Atlantic South Regional to be held Mar. 1.
