Saiontz Defeats No. 3 Player In The Nation In Tigers 6-1 Loss To Northwestern

Princeton's Melissa Saiontz earned a huge win over the No. 3-ranked singles player in the country in the Tigers' 6-1 loss to second-ranked Northwestern in a women's tennis match played at Duke University Saturday afternoon.
Saiontz lost the first set to Georgia Rose but came back to win the second set 6-4 and then win a 10-point tiebreak by an impressive 10-4 score to win the match at No. 1 singles.
Northwestern, ranked behind only Georgia Tech in this week's national computer rankings, won the other five singles matches in straight sets. Each of the Wildcats' top five singles players was ranked No. 69 or higher in the nation coming intot he match.
The Tigers, 5-4 and ranked No. 72 nationally, play N.C. State Sunday to complete their weekend trip to North Carolina.
