Men's Tennis Falls To No. 15 Pepperdine, 7-0
March 21, 2008 | Men's Tennis
The Princeton men's tennis team concluded a Spring Break trip to California with a 7-0 loss to a 15th-ranked Pepperdine team that featured two national top-20 singles players and a national top-25 doubles team.
The 64th-ranked Tigers (8-5) gave the Waves (8-6) all they could handle in doubles, including the No. 1 match that went to a tiebreak, but a Pepperdine singles lineup that featured three ranked players was too strong.
Alex Krueger-Wyman was part of a pair of close matches for Princeton Friday. In doubles, he and partner George Carpeni took their match against No. 23-ranked Andre Begemann and Omar Altmann to a tiebreak, which the Waves' No. 1 team won by a 7-4 score. In singles, Krueger-Wyman battled the nationally-ranked Altmann at No. 3, but Altmann had one break in each set on the way to a 6-4, 7-5 victory.
At No. 1, Peter Capkovic lost a 6-3, 6-4 decision to 10th-ranked Begemann, while Carpeni fell 6-1 and 6-4 to 20th-ranked Bassam Beidas at No. 2 singles.
The Tigers begin Ivy League play next Saturday afternoon at Penn.
