Tigers Jump To No. 50 In ITA Collegiate Rankings
March 04, 2008 | Men's Tennis
The Princeton men's tennis team has jumped to No. 50 in this week's ITA Collegiate rankings after defeating a pair of nationally-ranked opponents on a trip to the Southeast this past weekend.
The No. 50 ranking is the highest for Princeton since the computer rankings debuted and the highest for the Tigers in the eight-year tenure of head coach Glenn Michibata. The Tigers' previous-best computer ranking was No. 53 in 2001.
The Tigers were unranked last week but began their weekend by defeating then-No. 42 Clemson by a 4-3 score. After a close defeat at Furman the next day, Princeton closed its trip with an impressive 6-1 victory over then-No. 70 Georgia State in Atlanta.
Princeton is now 5-3 in the spring season and has won four of its last five matches. The Tigers host Stony Brook Friday afternoon in Jadwin Gym before heading on a spring break trip to California in mid-March.
