Women's Tennis Hosts Dartmouth And Harvard
April 10, 2008 | Women's Tennis
The Princeton women's tennis team looks to move above .500 in league play when its hosts No. 72 Dartmouth and Harvard this weekend at the Lenz Tennis Center. Friday's match against the Big Green starts at 2 p.m., while Saturday's match with the Crimson begins at noon.
In case of inclement weather, the matches would be played indoors at Jadwin Gymnasium.
The Tigers (8-8, 1-2 Ivy) split a pair of matches last weekend on the road, defeating Brown 4-3 before falling to Yale 5-2. Both Dartmouth and Harvard are 2-0 in league play after each beat Cornell and Columbia last weekend.
Freshman Taylor Marable has won all three of her Ivy League singles matches at the No. 3 spot for Princeton so far this season. She has also played No. 1 doubles with another freshman, Rebecca Parks.
Senior Ivana King has won a team-high nine singles matches for the Tigers this season, all at the No. 2 spot. Princeton's No. 1 player, sophomore Melissa Saiontz, was ranked No. 83 in the most recent ITA singles rankings released last week.
Dartmouth is ranked No. 72 this week on the strength of a 14-1 start to the season. Harvard, which features junior Beier Ko, the nation's 90th-ranked player, is 2-12 this season, but seven of those matches have come against ranked teams.
Princeton will host Columbia next Friday before visiting Cornell to conclude the season April 20.
