Top-Ranked Women's Lightweights Sweep Radcliffe For Class Of 1999 Cup
April 26, 2008 | Women's Rowing - Lightweight
The No. 1 and unbeaten Princeton women's lightweight crew maintained its perfect season with a victory over Radcliffe in one of the sport's most historic rivalry. Princeton won the first varsity showdown by three seconds to improve to 7-0 on the season.
Princeton won two of the three races against Radcliffe to continue its strong start. Head coach Paul Rassam's first varsity boat finished in 7:13.8, three full seconds faster than third-ranked Radcliffe. Princeton won the second varsity race in 7:22.4, while its varsity four fell by seven seconds after posting a time of 8:53.6.
The Tigers will enter the postseason unbeaten if they can top another longtime rival, Wisconsin, next Saturday at Lake Carnegie. The two programs have faced off in all of the recent postseason competitions, but the rivalry is rarely renewed during the regular season. No. 5 Wisconsin will take on Princeton next Saturday at 10 a.m.
