Five Princeton Women's Tennis Players Earn All-Ivy Honors

Unanimous first-team selection Ivana King led three Princeton singles players and two Tiger doubles teams on the women's tennis All-Ivy teams announced Thursday. King was also an honorable mention pick in doubles along with sophomore Sarah Huah.
Freshman Taylor Marable, who went undefeated in singles during the Ivy season, and sophomore Melissa Saiontz, Princeton's No. 1 player for much of the season, earned second-team All-Ivy honors in singles. Marable also joined with classmate Rebecca Parks to earn honorable mention in doubles along with the team of Huah and King.
King, a first-team pick for the second straight season, won a team-high 13 matches for the Tigers this spring. She finished 6-1 in singles in the league, losing only a three-set match at No. 2 against Penn. During her last four singles matches, the first two at No. 2 and the final two at No. 1, she lost a total of nine games in eight sets and won six of those sets by scores of 6-0 or 6-1.
Marable didn't lose a match at the No. 3 singles spot in 2008, winning five of those matches in straight sets and coming from behind to win in three sets in the other two. Saiontz won eight matches at No. 1 singles this spring, including a win over a top-10 player from Northwestern earlier in the season, and is currently ranked #109 in the ITA national singles rankings.
The freshman tandem of Marable and Parks played No. 1 doubles for the Tigers during the Ivy season and won a pair of matches. They won six matches as a team during the season. King and Huah were Princeton's No. 2 doubles team and won five of hte seven matches they played during the Ivy season and seven of the 10 matches they played together during the spring.
Princeton won its last four matches to finish 5-2 in Ivy play, good for third place, and 12-8 overall this spring.
