Men's Soccer Faces FDU on Sunday, Sept. 28

PRINCETON, N.J. (9/26/08) ? The Princeton University men's soccer team will take on Fairleigh Dickinson University on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 3 p.m. The game will mark the Knights home opener at University Stadium.
The two teams have met on 17 occasions since 1987. Princeton holds an 11-5-1 edge in the all-time series and won the last meeting, a 1-0 game, last year. Princeton and FDU have one common opponent in Lehigh. The Knights most recently recorded a 3-2 victory over the Mountain Hawks, while the Tigers fell 2-1 in the season opener.
Princeton is 1-5 on the season and recently lost a 1-0 overtime game to Monmouth on Thursday. At the top of the scoring column is a pair of sophomores, Teddy Schneider and Brandon Busch, with four points apiece. Three other players have two points. Senior Joe Walter and sophomore Sean Lynch have each had equal time in goal. Lynch has a 1-2 record with a 1.33 goals against average and a .692 save percentage. Walter, who started in the most recent game, has an 0-3 mark with a 1.67 GAA and a .722 save percentage.
FDU has already played two games against Ivy League squads, Dartmouth and Yale. After a 3-1 loss to Dartmouth, FDU followed up with a 3-0 shutout of Yale. The Knights are 4-2 overall, but have yet to play a game on their home field. They are led offensively by freshman Paul King, who has scored six goals for 12 points. Junior Samson Malijani has six points off of two goals and two assists, and classmate Sergio Munoz has a goal and three helpers. Freshman Juho Illi and junior Majda Zaineh have split playing time in goal for the Knights. Illi, who has started the last three contests, has a 2-2-0 record with a 2.25 GAA and a .690 save percentage. Zaineh has a 2-0 record with a 2.42 GAA and a .706 save percentage.
