October 01, 2009 | Men's Soccer
PRINCETON, N.J. (9/30/09) - The Princeton men's soccer team begins its Ivy League season this Saturday, Oct. 3 at Dartmouth. Kick off is set for 6:30 p.m.
The game will be available on GoPrincetonTigers.tv and live stats will be available free of charge.
Princeton has a 36-18-7 advantage over Dartmouth in the all-time series, which began in 1921. Last season the teams played to a 1-1 tie at Roberts Stadium.
The Tigers are 4-3 overall and are looking to rebound after a 0-2 weekend at the San Diego State University Tournament. Two of Princeton's three losses have come to teams ranked in the NSCAA national poll. The Tigers are holding opponents to just 1.00 goals per game. Junior Josh Walburn leads the Tigers in scoring with six goals, three of which have been game winners. Sophomore Antoine Hoppenot has two goals and freshman Matt Sanner, junior Teddy Schneider and senior Devin Muntz each have two points. Junior Sean Lynch has played every minute in goal and has a 0.97 goals against average and a .759 save percentage, allowing seven goals on 29 chances.
The Big Green opened the season 3-0-1, playing all four games at Burnham Field, and did not allow a goal during that time. The team has 2-2 on the road since that time, and like the Tigers also traveled out to San Diego for a tournament. The team is receiving votes in the latest NSCAA national poll and is ranked No. 18 in the College Soccer News poll. Daniel Keat leads the Big Green at the top of the scoring column with 17 points off of a team-best seven goals and three assist. Craig Henderson has three goals and three assists, while Lucky Mkosana and Kevin Dzierzawski each have five points. Dartmouth has utilized two goalkeepers but Sean Donovan has earned the most starts, six total. He has a 1.12 goals against average and a .611 save percentage after allowing seven goals and making 11 stops. Lyman Missiner has started two games and made eight saves without allowing a goal in 178 minutes.
