PRINCETON, N.J. (10/15/09) - The Princeton men's soccer team resumes Ivy League play when it hosts Columbia on Saturday, Oct. 17, game two of a three-game homestand at Roberts Stadium.
The game will be televised on Verizon FiOS 1 (please note, this channel is not available in the Princeton area). In addition, the game will be webcast live via GoPrincetonTigers.tv and live stats will also be available.
Columbia leads the all-time series which began in 1907, 30-19-8. Princeton however is on a six-game unbeaten streak over the Lions, which dates back to 2003. The Tigers posted a 2-0 win last season in New York.
Princeton is 4-5-2 overall and most recently tied St. John's 1-1 on Wednesday. The Tigers are 0-2 in the Ivy League with matching 4-2 scores to Dartmouth and Brown. Junior Josh Walburn leads the Tigers offensively with six goals for 12 points. Freshman striker Matt Sanner has three goals and one assist for seven points, while sophomore forward Antoine Hoppenot has five points off of two goals and one assist. Junior goalkeeper Sean Lynch has a 1.46 goals against average and a .679 save percentage, playing all 1050 minutes.
The Lions are 3-5-1 overall and 1-1 in the Ivy League, and most recently defeated Penn last Saturday, 1-0. The team has played just three games away from Columbia Soccer Stadium and is 1-2 in those games. Junior striker Bayo Adafin leads the team in scoring with four goals for eight points. Senior forward James Prince has tallied two goals and two assists apiece. Freshman forward Nick Scott and junior midfielder Pepe Carotenuto both have three points with a goal and an assist each. Sophomore Alexander Aurrichio has been in goal for every minute of action and has a 1.18 goals against average and a .766 save percentage.
