Men's Soccer Hosts Colgate in Final Non-Conference Contest
October 18, 2009 | Men's Soccer
PRINCETON, N.J. (10/18/09) - The Princeton men's soccer team will play its third game in seven days, when it hosts Colgate in its final non-conference game of the regular season, on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m.
The game will be webstreamed live on GoPrincetonTigers.tv and live stats will be available as well.
Princeton and Colgate have played each other just one time, in 2007, when the Raiders took a 1-0 game at Princeton Stadium. The Tigers will be seeking revenge from that meeting in which the Raiders scored with less than six minutes to play after being outshot 15-5 in the game.
Princeton is coming off of a 3-0 win over Columbia which helped push the Tigers back to .500, with a 5-5-2 overall record. The win marked head coach Jim Barlow's 97th career victory, standing just three wins away from the century mark. Junior Josh Walburn maintains his status as the leading scorer with six goals for 12 points. Freshman striker Matt Sanner is sneaking up on Walburn's lead with three goals and three assists. Sophomore forward Antoine Hoppenot, junior midfielder Brandon Busch and freshman midfielder Lester Nare all have five points on two goals and one assist piece. Junior goalkeeper Sean Lynch has a 5-5-2 record with three shutouts. He owns a 1.34 goals against average and a .691 save percentage, making 38 stops on 55chances.
Colgate enters the game with a 6-6-1 overall record and a 2-2 mark in the Patriot League. A pair of players is at the top of the scoring column, freshman Mike Reidy and senior Alex Weekes, with 13 points apiece. Reidy is the team's top goal scorer with six tallies, Weekes has five, two of which are game winners. Freshman Shane Conlin has eight points, while assist-leader Jeff Leach and senior Chris Ross have six points each. The Raiders haven't found their rhythm defensively, using three different goalkeepers this season. Sophomore Chris Miller has spent the most time between the pipes, playing in eight games. He has a 1.24 goals against average and a .767 save percentage making 33 stops on 43 shots. Sophomore Colin Prather and junior Max Krasilovsky-Revell have also seen action, with Prather in net in Colgate's 3-1 loss to Cornell. One of the more interesting notes in the Raiders' statistics to date, is that they've given up five penalty shots this season. The opponents scored on four of those five chances.
