Marable, Bartlett Advance at ITA Doubles Qualifiers

LOS ANGELES -- Taylor Marable and Hilary Bartlett protected their No. 7 seed and defeated a Duke pair in the first round of the ITA All-America Qualifying Doubles draw Tuesday morning in Los Angeles.
Marable and Bartlett defeated Ellah Nze and Reka Zsilinszka, 8-6, and will face Wichita State's Lutfiana Budiharto and Stephanie Dalmacio in a second-round match Wednesday at 10 a.m. Pacific Time at the Riviera Tennis Club.
Tuesday's win came over a Duke pair that included a 2009 All-America in Nze and a two-time All-America honoree in Zsilinszka, who was also the Most Valuable Player on Duke's national championship team last spring.
The qualifying draw, a 32-team bracket, will send four winners to the main doubles draw at the ITA event, putting Marable and Bartlett two wins away from advancing.
