Princeton Leads League in All-Ivy League Men's Soccer Selections

PRINCETON, N.J. (11/17/09) - Eight members of the Princeton men's soccer team have been named All-Ivy League it was announced by the league office on Tuesday, Nov. 17.
Senior Devin Muntz, junior Josh Walburn, sophomore Antoine Hoppenot and freshman Mark Linnville were all named first-team All-Ivy. Senior Ben Harms and junior Benjamin Burton were named second-team All-Ivy, while junior Sean Lynch and freshman Matt Sanner were named honorable mention.
This is the most Tigers on the all-league teams since 2004 and the most first-team selections since 1999. Princeton had more selections than any other school, with Brown earning the second-most honors with seven, followed by Harvard with six.
Muntz has been named all-league every year during his career. He was a second-team selection in 2006 and 2008 and was honorable mention in 2007. The two-year captain has scored one goal and added two assists this season and has started in all 17 contests.
Walburn led the team in scoring throughout most of the season. He currently has six goals and a team-high five assists for 17 points. Three of his goals were game-winning goals. Walburn has started at either midfield or defense in all 17 games this year.
The only freshman to be named first-team All-Ivy, Linnville started all 17 games for the Tigers. He picked up two assists, and was Princeton's go-to throw in specialist this year.
The team's leading scorer, Hoppenot has 10 goals and two assists for 22 points. His 10 goals are the most goals scored by a Tiger since Darren Spicer's 12 goals in 2004. The sophomore has played in all 17 games and made 15 starts. He recorded a hat trick in the team's regular season finale win over Yale. Hoppenot earned second-team honors as a freshman in 2008.
A senior midfielder, Harms as started all 17 games and has scored two goals and two assists. Both of his goals were game winners.
Junior defender Burton has also started all 17 games as a mainstay in the backfield. He has helped hold opponents to just 1.12 goals per game, and a stingy 4.7 shots on goal per game. Burton also earned second-team honors last season.
Lynch was in goal for all but seven minutes this season, earning a 9-5-3 record with four shutouts. He posted a 1.12 goals against average and a .733 save percentage, stopping 55 of 75 shots on goal.
Freshman forward Matt Sanner played in all 17 games and made 16 starts. He tallied four goals and a team-high five assists for 13 points, to sit third on the team in the scoring column.
Princeton is 9-5-3 overall and finished third in the Ivy League standings with a 4-2-1 record. The team earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and will host Bucknell in the first round on Thursday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m.
