Daniel Kolodzik Named GoPrincetonTigers Athlete Of The Week
December 08, 2009 | Wrestling
Sophomore Daniel Kolodzik completed a perfect 3-0 weekend and helped the Princeton wrestling team to a 2-1 start in the 2009-10 season last weekend. His weekend sweep, which included a victory over a nationally ranked wrestler, helped the Tiger sophomore earn GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week honors.
Kolodzik, the sophomore starter at 149 pounds, pinned Eric Nogard in 4:40 to help Princeton past Franklin & Marshall in the EIWA opener Friday night.
On Saturday, Kolodzik defeated VMI's Mike Long 9-4 before his highlight match of the weekend against nationally ranked David Greenwald of Rutgers. Kolodzik got an early lead and used a late takedown to clinch an 8-5 victory.
"I was really pleased with the way Daniel wrestled all weekend," head coach Chris Ayres said. "He competed against Rutgers with toughness and composure. To beat a nationally ranked wrestler shows the potential we believe Daniel has, and his ability to win at the end is what I'm looking for from the entire lineup. I have high hopes for Daniel the rest of the season and beyond."
Princeton will take on Binghamton, Liberty and the Merchant Marine Academy this Saturday at a quad meet in Binghamton.
