WILLIAMSBURG, Va -- A day after defeating No. 36 Virginia Commonwealth, the Princeton women's tennis team topped No. 31 William & Mary 5-2 Sunday afternoon to improve to 10-4 on the season.
Princeton is ranked No. 56 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings from before the weekend and will now be away from competition before its spring break trip to Tennessee and California commences Mar. 17.
Lauren McHale and Hilary Bartlett were winners in both singles and doubles while Rachel Saiontz and Blakely Ashley chipped in singles wins and Taylor Marable and Melissa Saiontz contributed to Princeton taking the doubles point.
It was Marable and Bartlett who won at first doubles in a tiebreak to tip the afternoon's first point. A Princeton loss at third singles was balanced by Ashley's win at sixth before wins by McHale at first singles and Rachel Saiontz at fifth put Princeton ahead 4-1 to clinch the match.
