San Diego Slips by Men's Tennis, 4-3
March 17, 2009 | Men's Tennis
SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- San Diego used four singles wins to get past the Princeton men's tennis team Monday afternoon in the opening match of the Tigers' spring trip to California.
Peter Capkovic's match at first singles was the clincher as the Toreros' Dean Jackson defeated the top Tiger in a third-set tiebreaker, 9-7. Earlier in the day, Capkovic helped Princeton take the doubles point, teaming with Alex Vuckovic to win at first doubles while George Carpeni and Yohei Shoji won at third doubles. Vuckovic was also a winner at third singles, but only Vuckovic and Charlie Brosens were able to get singles wins as the Tigers came up just short.
Princeton will have three more matches in California, starting Tuesday with a 10 a.m. PT tilt with Purdue in San Diego.
