Men's Tennis Enters ITA National Rankings
March 25, 2009 | Men's Tennis
PRINCETON -- Princeton's men's tennis team appeared in the national rankings for the first time this season, debuting at No. 73 in the ITA's release Tuesday.
The ITA ranks the top 75 teams, and 266 teams play Division I men's tennis. Rankings come out each Tuesday.
Back-to-back wins over ranked teams helped give the Tigers the boost needed to enter the rankings. Last Friday, Princeton got by then-No. 60 Utah, 4-3, a day before sweeping No. 70 UC Irvine, 7-0.
Princeton stands at 8-6 on the dual-match season after winning 7 of its last 10 contests. The Tigers started the spring 1-3.
Princeton is one of three Ivy League schools in the rankings. Yale checks in at No. 66, two spots ahead of Harvard at No. 68. The Tigers will open their Ivy League schedule Saturday against Penn, at the Lenz Tennis Center weather permitting or in Jadwin Gym if inclement weather.
