CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Princeton's women's tennis team, ranked 46th in Division I by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, handed Harvard its first Ivy League loss Friday afternoon, winning five singles matches in a 5-2 victory.
The Tigers bounced back from a Crimson sweep of the doubles point to see victories at singles slots two through five. Those victories went to Hilary Bartlett, Melissa Saiontz, Rachel Saiontz, Taylor Marable and Blakely Ashley. Lauren McHale won her first set at third singles, but Harvard's Beier Ko battled back to win in three sets.
Heading into Princeton's 12 p.m. match at Dartmouth Saturday, the Tigers are in a three-way tie for first with Brown and Yale, also 3-1, and a half-match ahead of Harvard and Dartmouth at 2-1. Cornell lost to Yale to drop to 2-2, while Columbia and Penn stayed winless at 0-4.
