Women's Tennis Completes Weekend Sweep, Defeats Dartmouth 6-1
April 11, 2009 | Women's Tennis
HANOVER, N.H. -- Staying alive for a chance at the Ivy League title, the Princeton women's tennis team completed a weekend sweep of Harvard and Dartmouth with a 6-1 victory over the Big Green Saturday afternoon in New Hampshire.
Both Brown and Yale swept Columbia and Cornell this weekend, so all three teams are in a 4-1 three-way tie. The three teams all went 1-1 against each other. Princeton will host Cornell Friday before traveling to Columbia Sunday, while Yale and Brown will play against Harvard and Dartmouth next weekend.
Lauren McHale, Hilary Barlett and Melissa Saiontz all won in both doubles and singles, while Taylor Marable and Blakely Ashley were singles winners, and Rachel Saiontz and Rebecca Parks contributed to doubles wins.
Princeton, at 16-7 overall and 4-1 in the Ivy, has already improved on its overall win total from last season (12-8) and could finish a match better in the Ivy League (5-2) than a year ago with a sweep next weekend.
