Women's Golf to Compete in Columbia's Roar-EE Invitational Friday, Saturday
April 16, 2009 | Women's Golf
PRINCETON -- In what shapes up as a preview of next weekend's Ivy League Championship, the Princeton women's golf team will take on five of the other six Ivy League programs in a 10-team field this weekend at the Roar-EE Invitational.
The tournament, hosted by Columbia and named after the school's mascot, will take place at Spook Rock Golf Club in Suffern, N.Y., northwest of New York City. Princeton will take on Ivy foes Brown, Columbia, Harvard, Penn and Yale in addition to Fairleigh Dickinson, Lehigh and Long Island. The tournament will feature one round Friday and one Saturday on the par-72, 6,894-yard course.
At last season's Roar-EE Invitational, held at Hampshire Country Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y., Princeton finished sixth of 14 teams with current senior Susannah Aboff placing third in the individual standings. The tournament may be a good barometer of what is to come in the Ivy Championship, as Harvard was last season's top finisher among Ivies and went on to win the league title.
