The Harvard Crimson established itself as one of the Eastern favorites Saturday morning by knocking off both Princeton and MIT during a beautiful morning regatta on Lake Carnegie. The Crimson retained the Compton Cup by topping the host Tigers by nine seconds.
The fourth-ranked Crimson 1V won the main race of the morning in a time of 6:00.3, while MIT upset Princeton with a second-place time of 6:08.6. The Tigers finished third in 6:09.4. Princeton did pick up a four-second win in the 2V competition; the Tigers finished in 6:04.8. Harvard would prove too strong in the 3V and freshman races, winning in times of 6:04.9 and 6:08.3.
Princeton entered the weekend ranked 11th nationally and will look to get back into its winning ways next weekend when it heads to Cayuga Inlet to battle Cornell and Yale for the Carnegie Cup. The heavyweights have one more home regatta, the May 2 Content Cup showdown with the Brown Bears.
