Lauren McHale Named Princeton Athlete of the Week, Sponsored by Princeton Army ROTC
April 20, 2009 | Women's Tennis
PRINCETON -- Lauren McHale, as representative of her Ivy League champion Princeton women's tennis team, has been named the Princeton Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Princeton Army ROTC.
McHale, as Princeton's No. 1 singles player, picked up two victories atop the ladder this weekend against Cornell and Columbia while also helping fellow freshman Rachel Saiontz to two wins at second doubles.
No Princeton doubles team allowed more than two points to Cornell or Columbia in a sweep of those matches, and all 12 singles matches over the weekend went Princeton's way in straight sets.
The Ivy League title, clinched with Princeton's win over Columbia Sunday, is Princeton's eighth and first since 2000. Princeton also earned the Ivy League's automatic berth to the NCAA tournament and will be competing in that event for the third time in program history.
