Incoming Men's Soccer Player Showcased on ESPN Classic Tonight in the U17/18 National Championship

PRINCETON, N.J. (7/16/09) - Princeton University incoming soccer player Matt Sanner will be playing in the U.S. Soccer U-17/18 National Championship game on Thursday, July 16. The game will air live on ESPN Classic at 10 p.m., and on ESPN 360.
A member of Carmel United, Sanner scored two goals against IMG Soccer Academy, to advance his team to the title game with D.C. United.
Entering Tuesday's game with IMG, Carmel needed a win or a tie to advance, and did so with a 3-3 draw.
IMG took an early two-goal lead in the game. Sanner shuffled a long ball forward to a teammate who worked his way past defenders and scored to make it 2-1 at halftime.
In the 67th minute, Carmel tied it with a header from Sanner. Playing alone up top, Sanner positioned himself well inside the box to received a pinpoint cross and headed the ball in on the right side. He got his second goal 14 minutes later after settling a long ball with his chest and turned and fired a shot that beat the keeper on the left side.
Tonight's game will be held at U.S. Soccer's National Training Center at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
