Men's Soccer to Play Two Games on National TV
August 17, 2009 | Men's Soccer
PRINCETON, N.J. (8/17/09) – The Princeton men's soccer team will play two games on national television this season. Both will be home games played at Roberts Stadium.
The first will be Princeton's game with St. John's on Wednesday, October 14. The game will be televised live on ESPNU at 6 p.m.
The Red Storm is ranked No. 1 by College Soccer News and No. 2 by Top Draw Soccer in the preseason polls. The team returns nine starters from last year's team that reached the College Cup with a 19-3-3 record.
The second game will be Princeton's final regular season game of the season with Yale, which will air live on the Fox Soccer Channel. The game is part of FSC's College Game of the Week series and will be on Friday, November 13 at 8 p.m.
The Bulldogs return seven starters from its 2008 squad that finished with 7-7-3 record and was tied for fourth, with Princeton, in the Ivy League standings with 3-3-1 mark. Last season the two squads battled to a double overtime 2-2 tie.
“We are thrilled to be able to showcase both our new stadium as well as our team on national television for these two games,” Princeton head coach Jim Barlow said. “Over the years we have had some great, entertaining matches with Yale and this year's FSC game should be no different. We've also had some good matches with St. John's in recent years, and, with them coming off a trip to the Final Four, it's a great challenge and opportunity for our team to play them on ESPNU.”
These will be the first Princeton games on national TV since 1993 when the team played in the College Cup against Virginia.
Check with your cable or satellite provider to see if ESPNU and Fox Soccer Channel is available in your area.
