Women's Soccer to Continue Homestand with Hartford Wednesday

PRINCETON -- The Ivy League season will soon be here for the Princeton women's soccer team. Before it arrives Saturday when Yale visits Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium, the Tigers will have one more chance to tune up against Hartford Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Looking for a W: Princeton will be looking to break a four-match winless streak when it hosts Hartford (3-4-1), which is also winless in its last two. Hartford is 1-3 on the road this season, while the Tigers are 1-2 at home.
Moving target: Both teams have spread the offense around this season, with Princeton's four goals coming from four players and Hartford's 12 goals coming from seven players.
First goal: Freshman Jen Hoy scored her first career goal last Friday at Towson, saving a 1-1 tie for the Tigers. She joins Barb Previ, Vicki Anagnostopoulos and Alissa Boddie to have found the back of the net this season.
Freshman helpers: All four Princeton assists this season have come from freshmen, including two from Jen Hoy, one from Caitlin Blosser and one from Stephanie Iantorno.In net: Both teams also have had one goalkeeper playing every minute this season, with junior Alyssa Pont (1.45 GAA, .679 Sv%) a mainstay for Princeton and sophomore Lauren Brodeur (1.58, .800) so for Hartford.
Nutmeg Staters: Hartford has no players from New Jersey, but Princeton freshman goalkeeper Claire Pinciaro comes from Newtown in western Connecticut. Eight Hawks are from Hartford's home state.
Common foes: Princeton and Hartford have two common opponents, Wyoming and Fairfield. The Tigers will meet Fairfield next week, and Wyoming got the best of both Princeton and Hartford in Laramie.
First NCAA match: Hartford was the first postseason opponent a Julie Shackford-coached Princeton team ever faced. The Hawks won on their home turf, 2-1, in the first round of the 1999 tournament.
Series history: Princeton leads 2-1, with Hartford winning the first meeting in the 1999 NCAA tournament and Princeton winning both ends of a home-and-home in 2003 and 2004.
More Connecticut: Princeton will play three straight teams from Connecticut, beginning with Hartford. The Nutmeg Series continues Saturday at home against Yale and next Tuesday at Fairfield.
