Men's Soccer Looks to Continue Success at Seton Hall on Labor Day
September 06, 2009 | Men's Soccer
PRINCETON, N.J. (9/6/09) - The Princeton men's soccer team will look to keep its momentum flowing as it travels to Seton Hall on Monday, Sept. 7 for a 7 p.m., contest.
The Pirates lead the all-time series, 11-7-5, but it was Princeton that won last season's game by a score of 3-1. The teams have split each of the last four contests, swapping wins every year since 2005.
The Tigers are off to a 1-0 start, after taking down Lehigh 1-0 on Friday. Junior Josh Walburn scored for Princeton with senior Ben Harms setting up the play. Walburn and Harms combined for six of Princeton's 11 shots. The Princeton defense allowed just one shot on goal the entire 90 minutes, and that shot came with under two minutes to play. Despite only making one stop, junior goalkeeper Sean Lynch came off his line a number of times to scoop up some errant shots in order to give Princeton possession.
Mondays's game will mark the home opener for Seton Hall, which enters the game with a 1-1 record. The Pirates fell to Monmouth 1-0 and rebounded with a 3-2 win over Penn on Friday. Like the Tigers, Seton Hall's scoring is led by a defender, junior Andrew Welker. Welker has scored two goals, while junior Dritan Sela has a goal and an assist and junior Brayan Martinez has one assist. Senior Paul McHenry has played all 180 minutes in net and has a 1.50 goals against average and an .812 save percentage.
Live stats will be available free of charge, and the game will be webstreamed on Hall Pass for a fee of $5.95.
