Women's Tennis Opens Season with Doubleheader Sweep

PRINCETON -- No. 45 Princeton upheld its tops-in-the-Northeast ITA ranking against its first local opponents Wednesday, sweeping Temple and Seton Hall each by 7-0 scores to begin the spring dual-match season on Jadwin Gym's indoor courts.
All seven Tigers were part of victories against Temple, with Princeton sweeping the doubles point and needing just two sets in five of the six singles matches. Temple fell to 1-2 with the loss and has three of its first four matches against Ivy opponents. The Owls were swept by Dartmouth last weekend and will visit Penn next week.
Against Seton Hall, Princeton dropped only four games in total between doubles and singles. Swapping in for Rachel Saiontz, Sarah Hoffman picked up her first singles win of the spring at sixth singles while Hilary Bartlett, Melissa Saiontz, Monica Chow, Taylor Marable and Blakely Ashley each won both of their singles matches on the day.
Princeton will compete this weekend in the ITA National Team Indoors competition at Northwestern's four-team regional, opening with No. 50 Denver Saturday before facing either No. 2 Northwestern or No. 53 Old Dominion.
