Quinn, Rudnick Power Volleyball To Sweep At Brown
October 30, 2010 | Women's Volleyball
Junior Cathryn Quinn and sophomore Lydia Rudnick both recorded 15 kills and junior Hillary Ford added 19 assists to lead the Princeton women's volleyball team to a 3-0 win at Brown Saturday afternoon. The result moves Princeton into second place in the Ivy League, although the team in front won't be decided until the conclusion of the Yale-Penn match Saturday evening.
Princeton, which has had issues putting teams away during the Ivy season, made no such mistake against a Brown team that took it the distance in Dillon Gym earlier this season. The Tigers grabbed control of each set and never let Brown get close late in a 25-18, 25-16, 25-18 win.
Quinn completed an impressive weekend with 15 kills and a .517 attack percentage, while Rudnick posted a double-double with 15 kills and 10 digs. Freshman Sydney Brombal recorded eight kills and hit .368, while sophomore Jennifer Palmquist added six kills and hit .294. Junior setter Michaela Venuti had a strong match on both ends, pacing the offense with 35 assists while adding 10 digs. Senior Liz McStravick added a team-high three blocks.
Princeton hit .325 as a team and limited the Bears to a .129 hitting percentage. After two weeks away, the Tigers will return home next weekend to take on both Cornell and Columbia at Dillon Gym.
