PRINCETON (11/19/10) - Mike Kramer scored midway through the first period and Mike Condon made 36 saves as the Princeton men's hockey team blanked Harvard 1-0 on Friday night at Hobey Baker Rink.
Princeton got off to a quick start and carried the play at even strength in the first period. Princeton outshot the Crimson 13-11 in the opening period, but eight of Harvard's 11 shots came on the power play.
The Tigers got on the board at 11:50 of the first period on Kramer's third goal of the season. Michael Sdao had a point shot blocked that caromed to Kevin Ross on the opposite point. Ross then found Kramer on the opposite side and fed him a pass. Kramer collected the puck and beat Harvard goaltender Kyle Richter as he scrambled across to put the Tigers ahead. The assist was the first collegiate point for Ross.
Following the goal, the game turned into a goaltender showcase as both Condon and Richter ate up all the shots they faced. Both made 15 saves in the second period and Condon stopped 10 in the third period. Condon also got some help in the final period, as Sdao and Brodie Zuk came up with key blocks.
Harvard ended up outshooting Princeton 36-35, but Condon stopped a career-high 36 to notch his first collegiate shutout. Richter made 34 saves in the loss.
Princeton has now won four games in a row and stands at 4-3-0 overall this season and 4-1-0 in the ECAC. It is the first time since February of 2009. Princeton hosts Dartmouth Saturday at 4 p.m.
