Men's Hockey Tops Brown 4-3 for First Win of Season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (11/6/10) - The Princeton men's hockey team rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat Brown 4-3 on Saturday night and record its first win of the 2010-11 season. Michael Sdao scored the game winner early in the third period to snap a 3-3 tie.
Princeton fell behind 2-0 six minutes into the game as Brown scored two goals on its first four shots to build an early lead. Princeton trailed by two entering the first intermission but got a pair of goals from Matt Arhontas within a minute early in the second period to erase the deficit. Both goals were assisted by Andrew Calof and Mike Kramer. The first goal came on the power play. Arhontas now has five goals this season and has scored in each game this season for the Tigers. Calof also has points in every game this season.
Princeton took the lead for the first time just past the midway point when Kevin Lohry scored a shorthanded goal on a breakway. Calof intercepted a defensive zone pass and spring Lohry on the breakaway, but Brown answered with a shorthanded goal with 17 seconds left in the period to send the game to third period tied at 3-3.
Princeton dropped its first two games of the season last weekend when its opponents broke third period ties with early goals. This time it was Princeton that tallied a decisive goal early in the third as Sdao scored on the power play 2:53 into the third period to give Princeton's its second lead. His goal was his second in as many games and was assisted by Will MacDonald.
Mike Condon made 37 saves for his first collegiate win in goal, including 13 in the third period. Marco DeFilippo took the loss with a 30-save effort. Brown outshot Princeton 40-34.
Princeton is now 1-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the ECAC. Princeton visits Colgate and Cornell next weekend.
