Women's Squash Tops Dartmouth, Will Play For Ivy Title Sunday
February 07, 2010 | Women's Squash
The Princeton women's squash team won a pair of Sunday thrillers over Harvard last season to win both the Ivy League and Howe Cup national team titles. Following Saturday's 8-1 victory over Dartmouth, Princeton will have another chance to play for an Ivy crown Sunday in Cambridge.
Princeton improved to 7-2 overall, 4-1 in the Ivy League, with an 8-1 win in Hanover. That result, combined with top-ranked Harvard's 8-1 victory over Penn, gives Princeton a chance to clinch at least a share of the league title. Harvard is the only remaining undefeated team in the league, while Sunday is Princeton's final Ivy match. A Tiger win would give Princeton a 5-1 Ivy record; no team could do better.
Besides a loss at the No. 1 spot, Princeton was dominant against the Big Green. Five players won 3-0 matches, including No. 2 player Jackie Moss, who won 11-9, 11-9, 11-6 over Corey Schafer. Junior Nikki Sequiera, who is working her way back from injury, won a 3-2 thriller at the No. 5 position.
Princeton takes on Harvard Sunday at noon.
