Women's Tennis Ranked No. 27 Nationally
March 10, 2010 | Women's Tennis
Princeton is away from competition for the midterm week, but will head out on a spring break trip to South Carolina next week to face College of Charleston, currently ranked No. 67 on the 75-team list, and North Carolina State, now at No. 42.
The Tigers haven't even reached the Ivy League portion of the schedule yet - that will begin Mar. 27 with a home match against Penn - and have already racked up some impressive accomplishments.
Princeton has won five of its seven matches against ranked teams, highlighted by victories over then-No. 20 Vanderbilt and previously undefeated Marshall, then ranked No. 28.
Sophomore Hilary Bartlett is ranked No. 70 in the country among singles players, and Bartlett and Taylor Marable are ranked No. 28 as a doubles pair.
Princeton is the third-ranked school among programs outside the "big six" conferences in the latest rankings, behind only No. 19 Virginia Commonwealth and No. 24 Yale. The Bulldogs and Tigers will meet in New Haven on April 2. Princeton and Yale are the top two ranked teams east of Michigan and north of Virginia.
The Tigers will return home to play Penn State on Mar. 20 as part of a two-match weekend, followed by Boston University on Mar. 21.
