March 18, 2010 | Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis
PRINCETON -- Both Princeton tennis teams will be in action this weekend as a busy spring break comes to a close.
The women's team (10-5), ranked No. 28 in the nation and tops in the Northeast, will start it off by hosting Penn State (3-9) Saturday at 2 p.m. Each team brings a ranked singles player into the match with Princeton's Hilary Bartlett at No. 81 and Penn State's Petra Januskova at No. 71. Bartlett and Marable are ranked No. 19 in the nation by the ITA in doubles play.
The men's team (3-9) will play at No. 45 Miami at 3 p.m. Saturday. The Hurricanes (5-5), who face Kentucky Friday, have one doubles team ranked, with Hector Nieto and Keith Crowley at No. 53.
Sunday will bring both teams back to the court, with the women hosting Boston University at 10 a.m. The Terriers (6-7) will make an Ivy weekend out of it, facing Penn in Philadelphia Saturday. At 2 p.m. Sunday, the men's team will take the court at Florida Atlantic (8-5), which will first face South Alabama Thursday.
Princeton's men have a 2-6 record all-time against Miami and have not faced Florida Atlantic, though the last match against the Hurricanes was in 1998. Princeton's women are 1-3 all-time against Boston University with the last match coming in 2005 and are 11-4 against the Nittany Lions, having last faced Penn State in 2007.
The women's matches will be played outside at the Lenz Tennis Center with good weather and in Jadwin Gymnasium otherwise.
