BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Matija Pecotic came through with a win at second singles, tipping a 4-3 match toward Princeton as the Tigers defeated Florida Atlantic Sunday afternoon to close the spring trip.
Princeton claimed the doubles point as all three matches finished with 8-5 scores. Coleman Crutchfield, Yohei Shoji, Michael Lin and Matt Spindler contributed to those victories, but the Tigers needed more to get the overall win.
Florida Atlantic tied the score with a win at first singles, followed by Princeton pulling ahead 3-1 with wins by Matt Spindler and Yohei Shoji at third and sixth.
An FAU (9-7) win at fifth was the last of the two-set matches, bringing the Owls within 3-2. Princeton's Alex Faust then fell at fourth singles, making it a tied match with Pecotic remaining on court. The freshman from Malta rebounded from a first-set loss to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, improving Princeton's record to 4-10 and sending the Tigers north with a victory.
