Men's Lightweight Crew, Tennis Previewed In First April TigerCast
April 01, 2010 | Men's Tennis, Men's Rowing - Lightweight
With both of their Ivy League home openers upcoming this weekend, head coaches Marty Crotty (men's lightweight crew) and Glenn Michibata (men's tennis) join the latest edition of TigerCast.
Crotty is in his first year as the head coach of the Tiger men's lightweights, who are coming off arguably the best season in program history. After winning the EARC, IRA and Henley championships, Princeton opens the 2010 season ranked No. 1 and will take on No. 5 Georgetown and No. 7 Columbia this weekend for the Fosburgh Cup. Crotty discusses the work ethic he's seen within his program and the developing chemistry from the rowers both in and out of that championship 2009 varsity eight.
Michibata has helped guide the men's tennis team through an injury-plagued season and is hoping that a full lineup will appear for the heart of the Ivy League season. Princeton opened its league season with a win at Penn and will play both Yale and Brown in predicted ideal weather conditions both Friday and Saturday afternoons. Michibata talks about both a senior No. 1 and a freshman class that has combined to get Princeton through hopefully the toughest part of its schedule.
