Women's Tennis Tops Dartmouth to Stay Perfect in Ivy
April 10, 2010 | Women's Tennis
PRINCETON -- Picking up their 10th victory over a fellow ranked team in 13 tries this season, the Princeton women's tennis team defeated Dartmouth 6-1 Saturday afternoon at the Lenz Tennis Center.
The victory kept Princeton a perfect 5-0 in Ivy League play and 18-5 overall. Princeton will play the final weekend of the regular season next Friday and Sunday, traveling to Cornell before hosting Columbia.
Princeton began the day by taking the first two doubles matches before Hilary Bartlett and Taylor Marable lost in a tiebreaker at first doubles in a battle of ranked pairs. The Big Green, which had only lost two matches this season heading into the day and were the last Ivy-undefeated team other than Princeton, managed just one more point with a win at third singles. Bartlett, Marable, Blakely Ashley, Monica Chow and Melissa Saiontz were all singles winners.
With no other Ivies undefeated in league play, the Tigers would clinch a share of their second straight Ivy League title with a victory Friday at Cornell.
