April 17, 2010 | Men's Tennis
PRINCETON -- Matt Spindler and Matt Siow picked up singles wins for the Princeton men's tennis team Friday afternoon against Cornell, but the Big Red claimed the team victory by a 5-2 final.
The loss drops the Tigers to 4-2 in the Ivy while Columbia regained sole possession of the league lead at 5-1. Princeton and Columbia will meet Sunday afternoon in Manhattan.
Both Princeton singles wins went three sets and both Tigers rebounded from first-set losses to win. Siow's match at fourth singles ended in tiebreakers in each of the first two sets before the rookie won a super tiebreaker 10-7 once the team match had been clinched for the Big Red. At third singles, Spindler took the second set 6-2 and the third set 7-5 in regular scoring.
Sunday's match against the Lions will begin at 2 p.m.
