Men's Tennis Closes Season with 6-1 Defeat at Columbia
April 18, 2010 | Men's Tennis
NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The Princeton men's tennis team took the race for the Ivy League title down to the final match, but Columbia prevailed 6-1 in Sunday's season finale in Manhattan.
The Lions avoided having Princeton give Columbia a second loss, which would have forced a shared league crown between at least those two teams. Instead, Columbia finishes 6-1 in the league, a match clear of Cornell and Yale. The Tigers finish at 4-3 in the Ivy, and 8-13 overall, with their first winning league season since 2007.
In Sunday's match, Matija Pecotic provided Princeton's point to trim the Columbia lead to 2-1, but the last four matches, including three that went three sets, went Columbia's way.
