Men's Tennis Beats Brown, Stands 3-0 in Ivy
April 03, 2010 | Men's Tennis
PRINCETON -- For the first time since 2001, the Princeton men's tennis team has won its opening three Ivy League matches. The Tigers reached that number Saturday with a 5-2 win over Brown at the Lenz Tennis Center.
A day after getting their first league-play win over Yale since 2007, the Tigers earned their first win over the Bears since the same year by winning five singles matches to rebound from a doubles-point loss.
Charlie Brosens, Matija Pecotic, Matt Spindler, Alex Faust and Coleman Crutchfield were Princeton's singles winners, and Faust and Pecotic teamed up for a doubles victory at third even though the Tigers weren't able to get a second win and claim the point.
All five Princeton singles wins were in straight sets, and Matt Siow rebounded from a first-set loss at third singles before ultimately falling in three sets to give Brown its second point of the day.
Princeton will travel to Harvard and Dartmouth next weekend. The Crimson are one of two Ivy League teams in the ITA's top-75 ranking this week, checking in at No. 64 with Columbia at No. 54.
