Hofstra Tops Softball, 6-2
April 06, 2010 | Softball
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Lizzy Pierce's fifth-inning home run accounted for the Princeton softball team's scoring Tuesday afternoon at Hofstra, but the Pride scored early and never trailed in a 6-2 Tiger defeat.
Michele DePasquale's first-inning home run put the Pride on the board, and Hofstra used a four-hit third inning to push across three more and take a 4-0 lead against rookie pitcher Liza Kuhn and the Tigers.
Two innings later, the first career home run for the freshman Pierce halved Hofstra's advantage, but the Pride's Tessa Ziemba hit her own two-run shot in the sixth for the final margin.
Kuhn finished with eight hits allowed while going six innings, while five players split Princeton's five hits.
Princeton will head north again this weekend to complete the team's run through the Ivy League North Division with two against Brown Friday and two at Yale Saturday.
