Softball to Close Ivy North Schedule at Brown, Yale
April 08, 2010 | Softball
PRINCETON -- Brown and Yale will host the Princeton softball team this Friday and Saturday as the Tigers close out the Ivy North portion of the schedule before entering divisional play.
Princeton (6-22, 0-4 Ivy) will start at Brown (12-11, 1-3) Friday at 2 p.m. for a pair before visiting Yale (6-15, 2-2) Saturday at 12:30 p.m. for two.
The Tigers will look to snap a 10-game slide that has included five games in which Princeton was ahead at some point. Princeton picked up five victories on its 13-game spring break trip to California but hasn't emerged victorious since returning to the East Coast.
Senior Jamie Lettire carries the team's top average at .284 while hitting eight of the team's 21 home runs. Lettire's next home run will give her solely the title of Princeton's career leader in home runs, a distinction she now shares with Melissa Finley '05 at 37 home runs.
In the circle, freshman Liza Kuhn (3-6, 4.22) leads the team in innings pitched with 71, while Lettire (0-11, 7.33) and freshman Alex Peyton (3-5, 3.16) have the rest of the team's 186 innings.
Brown has three regulars above .300 at the plate, led by rookie Stephanie Thompson at .363, with sophomore Kate Strobel accounting for eight of Brown's 13 home runs. Kristie Chin (6-0, 1.63) is the team's top pitcher, accounting for 56 of the team's 157 innings.
Yale has Ashley Sloan as its only .300 hitter with the senior batting .338. Senior Kayla Kuretich has the innings lead in the circle, throwing 57 of the team's 139 frames while compiling a 3-5 record and 2.72 ERA.
The Tigers will be on the road again next weekend at Columbia for four games Saturday and Sunday before returning home to face Penn at Class of 1895 Field the following weekend.
