May 28, 2010 | Women's Tennis
ATHENS, Ga. -- Dropping the first set didn't deter the Princeton pair of Taylor Marable and Hilary Bartlett from rallying to win their first-round match at the NCAA doubles tournament Thursday night in Georgia.
Marable and Bartlett, ranked No. 27 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, knocked off 16th-ranked Melissa Koning and Irene Rehberger of South Florida 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 to advance to Friday's round of 16.
The Tiger pair will face the No. 4 overall seed of the eight seeded teams in the bracket of 32, Andrea Remynse and Yasmin Schnack of UCLA, at 1:30 p.m. The Bruin twosome is also the fourth-ranked team in the nation by the ITA. Remynse and Schnack were straight-set winners over a duo from Old Dominion in the first round.
The victory comes a year after Bartlett and Marable were on the other side of a three-set first-round match against a pair from Mississippi in what was the first apperarance since 2002 for a Princeton player in the NCAA singles or doubles postseason.
