June 03, 2010 | Softball
Cindy Cohen, the team's head coach from 1983-2000 and the winningest coach in program history, was in attendance as were plenty of her former players as well as alumnae from the last decade.
Melissa Finley '05, who was until late this season the program's career home run leader, won the alumnae home run derby with Erin Snyder '06 the first alum to put one out of Class of 1895 Field during the event.
The program's current career home run leader, Jamie Lettire '10, attended the reunions event and was announced as the winner of the Patton-Poole Award, given annually to the player who in play, sportsmanship and influence has been most valuable to the team.
Lettire closed her career with a first-team All-Ivy selection, the fourth all-league honor of her career. In 2010, Lettire led the team with a .310 batting average, nine doubles, 23 walks and a co-best 40 hits.
Ellen Scott '10 was selected as the winner of the Cindy Cohen Softball Award, given to the senior who through sportsmanship, dedication and consistent effort has been an inspiration to her teammates. Scott gained a starting role for the first time in her collegiate career as a senior, playing in 40 games as a mainstay in the Princeton outfield.
Freshman Nikki Chu became the first winner of the Kathy Kobler Garrett '91 Memorial Award, given to the member of the Princeton varsity softball team whose generosity, positive attitude, genuine consideration for others, and quiet energy makes her essential to the success of the team. Chu missed the entire season due to injury but remained a full participant in the program and aims to return next season.
