July 26, 2010 | Men's Soccer
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (7/26/10) - Princeton men's soccer players Matt Sanner and David Dubow competed in the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship as members of the FC Delco Hammerheads.
Delco played the Columbia Crew Juniors on Saturday, July 24 in the title game with 3,500 fans on hand to watch the 75th McGuire Cup, which aired live on the Fox Soccer Channel. The Crew's lone goal in the 36th minute proved to be the deciding factor in the 1-0 game.
Sanner, a forward on the team, gave Delco its first scoring chance of the game in the 12th minute when he slid to a bouncing throw in inside the box at the far post. He had another chance in the 23rd minute when Sanner picked up the ball behind the Crew defense but a defender used a slide tackle to prevent the shot.
Dubow also played in the game subbing in on defense.
Sanner and Dubow will don the Orange and Black on Saturday, September 4th when Princeton opens its season at Fairleigh Dickinson at 7 p.m.
