PRINCETON (9/6/10) - The Princeton men's soccer team will look to build off its season opening win when it travels to Lehigh on Tuesday, Sept. 7. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m., at Ulrich Field.
The game will be webstreamed for a fee and live stats are available free of charge.
Princeton leads Lehigh in the all-time series, 32-7-1. In the last decade, the teams have met four times which the Tigers winning three of those four games. Princeton won last year's meeting 1-0, which was the Tigers' 2009 season opener on the road. Senior Josh Walburn scored the lone goal in the 43rd minute and was part of the defense that didn't allow a single shot on goal until the 89th minute. The win also helped Head Coach Jim Barlow surpass his predecessor and current US National Team coach Bob Bradley in the win column, with his 93rd victory. Barlow now stands at 102 wins.
The Tigers made the short trip up the NJ Turnpike to Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday and earned a 1-0 win in the season opener. Junior striker Antoine Hoppenot scored with 2:31 remaining to lift Princeton to the win, while senior goalkeeper Sean Lynch made three stops in his eighth career shutout.
The Mountain Hawks have split their first two games, both of which were played in Bethlehem. They posted a 3-0 shutout over Rutgers on Wedneday, before falling 1-0 to Fordham on Saturday. Junior forward Joe Puleo has scored two goals and rookie forward James Meyerkord scored the third goal. Junior back Kevin Strunk has grabbed two assists and junior striker Ayo Olasupo had one assist. Senior Jonathan Nydell has played all 180 minutes in goal for Lehigh and has a 0.50 goals against average and an .833 save percentage. The team averages 14 shots on goal per game and has held teams to just seven. Lehigh and its opponents have been fairly even in corner kicks 11-10 and in fouls 19-20.
