Men's Soccer Loses Lead, Falls 3-2 at Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (9/7/10) - The Princeton men's soccer had a two-goal advantage over Lehigh but the Mountain Hawks clawed their way back and scored three unanswered goals in a 12-minute span to walk away with the 3-2 game.
Junior Manny Sardinha put the Tigers on the scoreboard in the 25th minute when he buried an Antoine Hoppenot pass.
Senior Brandon Busch converted on a penalty kick opportunity in the 53rd minute for his first goal of the season.
The Tigers lead was quickly shortened when James Graf scored less than two minutes later. Awarded a throw in down low, Lehigh's Kevin Strunk sent the ball into the box where Graf was able to head the ball into the net.
Getting out in front of the Tiger defense, Lehigh was able to convert a corner kick for the equalizer six minutes later. Ben Wysocki lofted the ball into the box where it bounced to Neal Melchionni to give the Mountain Hawks the second goal in six minutes.
Lehigh's leading scorer Joe Puleo tallied the game-winning goal in the 67th minute. Off another Lehigh throw in, Cameron Omsberg found Puleo open at the far post for the redirection.
Senior Sean Lynch made five saves for Princeton and Jonathan Nydell stopped three shots for Lehigh. Princeton had a 14-10 advantage in shots, while Lehigh had a slight 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
Princeton is now 1-1 on the season, while Lehigh improves to 2-1.
Princeton hosts American on Friday, Sept. 10 in the home opener at 7 p.m., at Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.
