Hoppenot Finishes Fourth in Online Voting for Player of the Year

PRINCETON, N.J. (1/18/11) - Anotine Hoppenot of the Princeton men's soccer team finished fourth in online voting for the Soccer News Net Player of the Year award, out of 38 finalists.
The winner of the Soccer News Net Player of the Year was awarded to Akron's Darlington Nagbe. Penn State's Corey Hertzog was the runner up. Notre Dame's Steven Perry was third and finished first in the fan voting to earn the Soccer News Net Supporters' Choice Award.
Following Perry in the fan voting was Hertzog. Connecticut's goalkeeper Josh Ford was third followed by Hoppenot who earned nine percent of the total vote. Fan voting accounted for 40 percent of the total vote, with the remaining 60 percent coming from the Soccer News Net editorial staff.Hoppenot led Princeton to its second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance in 2010. The Tigers went a perfect 7-0 in one of the strongest leagues in the nation, the Ivy League. Princeton finished the regular season winning 12 straight games, the longest win streak in program history. The 2010 squad posted a 13-4-1 record, the most wins in program history.
The junior striker was named the Ivy League Player of the Year, was a semifinalist of the Hermann Trophy, earned two All-America certificates, captured Soccer America MVP honors and earned All-Region honors.
