Track & Field Heads to The Armory for New York Road Runners

PRINCETON, N.J. (1/27/11) - The Princeton track & field teams will comepte at the New York Road Runners College Saturday Night at The Armory II on Saturday, Jan. 29. The meet begins at 5:30 p.m. A schedule of events can be found below.
Thirteen other squads will be competing, including: Central Park TC, Cheyney, Columbia, Connecticut (men), Cornell, Delaware State, Iona (men), Maryland (women), NJIT, Toronto, Villanova and West Point.
It will be a scored meet, with a limit of four scorers per school. The scoring will be done as follows, 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1. In the field events, the top nine will advance to the finals.
Last year, the Princeton men's won the meet with 126 points, edging second-place Cornell which finished with 109.5 points. Virginia was third, followed by Connecticut and Albany. Austin Hollimon won the 400 with a time of 47.65, his best mark of the season and 0.20 seconds better than the NCAA Provisional Qualifying Standard time. Hollimon also helped the Tigers meet the NCAA Provisional mark in the 4x400 relay. Along with Ricky Kearney, Russell Dinkins and Mike Eddy, the group cruised in at 3:11.85. Dinkins won the 500-meters in his first time out in the event, with a time of 1:01.70. Kyle Soloff picked up another victory, winning the 1000 at 2:27.40, beating his second-place competitor by over a full second. Justin Frick won the high jump, clearing 2.16 meters, his second NCAA Provisional mark of the season.
The women's team finished third last year with 94.5 points. Cornell won the meet with 162 points, followed by Virginia with 114. Tiffany Liu won the long jump reaching 5.59 meters, a new personal best. She reached the mark on her first of four jumps. Tory Worthen won the pole vault, clearing 4.00 meters. Her mark meets the NCAA Provisional Qualifying Standard. The Tigers finished third in both throwing events. Emma Ruggiero was third in the weight throw, reaching 16.53 meters on her sixth and final throw, while classmate Thanithia Billings placed third in the shot put with a throw of 14.67 meters. Eileen Moran medaled in two events, the 60 and 200 meter dashes. Both Alex Banfich and Ashley Higginson found themselves reaching NCAA Provisional marks in the 3000-meter run. Banfich finished fourth and Higginson sixth.
